Andrea and I just had yummy Mexican food and the lingering angst from events of the weekend is swiftly scattering. Life is pretty good. Work was strangely busy through the morning and finally calmed down after lunch giving me time to do a little studying.

Speaking of which, I'm prepping my secondary 2000 Advanced Server machine for use as a study tool. I'm uninstalling Mercury Mail Transport and Apache so I can play with Microsoft's Internet Information Service. I'm likely never going to use it to host my own websites. The ease of use does not make up for security holes and other limitations that I understand are inherint to the program. Besides, I want to learn Apache better. However, I do need to learn how to do things with IIS for the test, and there are some neat things like internet printing and browser managed server configuration and WebDAV and things like that that I want to try. I'm going to go over the study materials I have access to and set up my server as I go. I learn best from books. Learning directly from people is probably my least effective learning method, but books plus hands on play-time is perfect.

The back up server is so much faster than my primary; It's a PentiumIII Xeon 1Ghz box with 512MB and I am really looking forward to being done with studying and having time to swap it out with the current primary server, running a Pentium Pro 200 with 96MB. There is, to put it mildly, a noticable difference, even with the overhead of a (mostly unutilized) active directory system on the fast machine.

Oh, time for the show!

We just got back from watching Antiques Roadshow. That's the only thing I watch on television these days and it is so much fun! Ok, back to studying now.
