Windy Day at the Lake
Unicycling and bicycling have a lot of overlap in muscle use, but there are some differences too. After unicycling a couple days ago, followed by 13 miles on a bike yesterday and 26 today, I'm more thoroughly sore and tired than I'm used to. Mostly just tired though, in that satisfying way that indicates I did something fun and active.
I rode down Lincoln Avenue to Lincoln Park Zoo today, which cuts a corner off of my usual route. I decided to take the longer route back, and ran right into a heavy, unrelenting wind from the north. I decided to take the shortest route back 'cause I was getting tired so I kept going north instead of turning west at Lawrence. The lakeshore path was 8 miles of grinding along in low gear at 10 miles per hour or so. I got splashed by a high wave on a section near the water's edge, but I was working hard enough that I didn't get cold and the wind had me dry soon enough.
