Bicycle Charity Rides

I'd enjoy doing a charity fundraising bicycle ride. There's the Tour de Cure to support diabetes research, for instance, which is particularly close to me since my dad's been diabetic since childhood. However, I have no money at the moment, and do not know many people with much money to spare. Do I know anyone who'd be willing and able to make a pledge for something like that? I'm just wondering how viable that would be.
