As part of helping Danae with some research, I'm going through approximately 1400 URLs pulled from Twitter and coding them into various categories. As part of this, I had more than a passing exposure to dubstep for the first time and found that I really enjoy some of it. It's great for doing something generaly mindless like URL coding. I think it might be good for driving too. Some of the bass makes me think of a giant CNC machine being told by software to exceed the maximum travel of its moving parts, grinding its motor as it tries. I guess in that way it makes me think of the initializing noises that 5.25" and, to a lesser extent, 3.5" floppy drives made when you boot a computer. It's kind of soothing; I can imagine huge machinery in operation around me. Kind of like when I had a CAT scan of my brain a year or so back; that process was pleasant and relaxing for me too.
