When I first looked at this set and saw three different compasses, I felt like I was at a formal dinner setting and trying to figure out why I had four forks. But these were too beautiful not to buy for $15. After searching, I figured out the thumbscrew-adjustable nibs that look like sharp little bird beaks are basically dip-pen nibs. Maybe I'll even try them with ink! A Facebook friend who knows about pens says I can use India Ink or regular fountain pen ink with them.

Even when it's stuff I don't really use, I even love to just look at things like this and think about the craftsmanship and skill in their use.
