(no subject)

After looking at my old journal briefly while posting my last entry, I realized that I'd been been thinking about, and hoping to, go to Cape Canaveral today for over two years. I'm a little bit sad that I wasn't able to be there to watch the launch in person. I was even too late tuning in to the internet broadcast of NASA TV coverage of the launch to see the very beginning. But my sadness drops away like shuttle's rocket boosters do at the point of SRB separation when I think about what could have gone wrong but didn't. The launch was one of the most beautiful things I've seen in a long time.

Our hope for the future has working wings again.
