As far as I can tell, troubleshooting in broad strokes suggests a problem with the Y-sustain board, or related Y-buffer board. That's very broad strokes, since I don't have a multimeter at the moment. Following video guidance online, I unplugged and replugged boards from the power supply board to track down the issue. I ordered replacement boards. I hope they'll fix the problem and I didn't spend an unnecessary $65 CAD...

I'm hoping I can fix it, sell it, and buy a multimeter. :)
