Everything that's happened to you all is just additional levels of horror. I wish I had something useful to say.
At the last vet appointment, a woman and her teenage daughter brought in a cat they found. It was obviously well-loved and belonged to someone, and the daughter very much wanted to adopt it. The vet scanned it and no microchip. So they have to take it to the shelter and hope they can find the owner, and if not, who knows.
