For those who asked to see the kind of stuff I'm doing with my forge, two pictures are behind the cut. I've spent a lot of tonight sorting through old pictures and playing with photoshop a bit. These pictures are slightly optimized, but I didn't do much with them yet since I'm still learning the program.

(If you're interested in seeing more of my stuff, I just posted to [livejournal.com profile] deadmachinery too.)

This is a curtain hold-back that I made out of a garage door roller (of the sort you see above in the picture) scavenged from my parents' garage when they tore it down. The tip of the hook broke off because when I clamped it in the vice to twist it, the vise cooled the tip so much that twisting the body of the piece caused a flaw to develop at the point of temperature differential (where it was clamped). I'll do better next time.

And this is a plant hanger I made out of a railroad spike scavenged from a grade crossing down along Sheridan Road. (Another railroad spike is included for comparison.)

It slightly depresses me that these were done over a month ago and I haven't gone out and worked since. I need more time.
