(no subject)
I have been so tired this week that the days are blurring together a bit. It started when I stayed up late watching the election and I haven't been able to catch up since. I am immensly relieved that this is Friday.
I had a visitor on, I believe, Wednesday.
crazycatladymel's beau, John, stopped by to work on my server with me. We were trying to configure my VPN settings so that my family and friends and I can VPN to my local network while offsite. We did manage to get machines that were already on the same network segment to successfully connect. We just couldn't manage to get it to work when using the external address of my router rather than the internal address of the host machine. Any ideas? My server is perfectly accessable from outside; it's hosting files for me and is my mail and web server and that works fine. Just can't get it to VPN. *shrug* I'll keep working on it.
That aside, having somebody over to just sit around and talk computers with was really cool. I haven't been able to do that since moving out here. In fact, I don't think I've done anything with friends by myself since moving. Our talk would probably have bored
wooisme to death but it was a great time. We talked about many personality quirks we have in common. (Apparently we both liked to sit and watch the defrag operation run back when it had the big graphical progress display; I loved that!). We talked about politics as well, though I must admit that I was starting to get rather tired toward the latter part of five o' clock and wasn't thinking as clearly as I could have been.
There are things we disagree on such as environmental issues. In that, he says, I'm much like a friend of his with similar inclinations. We agree on a lot of libertarian-style ideas though. For example, our beliefs on the government's regulation of marriage (which I'll probably go into more later). We talked gaming and stuff too. It was a good time. Hopefully we'll be able to do it again soon.
The ebay isn't going quite as fast and Andrea and I would like, but it's going well. I used part of the proceeds from our last round to buy a better scale. With exact weights for items, I can print shipping labels and buy postage at home which will save both time and money since you get free delivery confirmation service doing it that way.
I have an impressive stack of board games that are going to head off to ebay land in the near future. We sorted out our pile into keep, sell, and give away. We kept all the really cool ones, of course. I'm going to write copy after work for about 10 that I took pictures of yesterday, assuming I can keep from collapsing on the bed. Andrea is talking about trying to start a once a week board game night. Possibly at Dragonmead until we get the apartment cleaner, hopefully at home after that. Anyone interested? I dunno when it would start but I figure I'll take an interest survey. I hope it could start soon. I would so love that.
Andrea and I have only one more episode left in season one of B5. I am so excited about getting to the end of this with her; this is going to be a big one.
Andrea and I are going out for dinner with
thefile and his wife Pixiecat (who Andrea was surprised to find is actually someone she knows from some years ago). Should be nice.
Done for now. More later.
