stormdog: (sleep)

I'm back to Lisa's place from the AAA conference! There was one more set of panels tonight, but they are after a two hour dinner break. I'd originally planned to stay for one about urban infrastructure, but I was starting to feel bad. I'd been pretty tired all day, and I was getting a little headachy. So I got some food and headed back here. I'm going to figure out my schedule for tomorrow, and then probably take a nap.

I'm short on sleep because of stupidity yesterday. I got to Lisa's place and she let me in. I settled in with my stuff, then drove out to get food and pants, since I had no non-jeans pants in my size anymore. I paid $30 for a pair of khakis. I don't know how that compare to prices for pants in general, but as someone who buys all my stuff at thrift stores, that was enough money to make me a little grumpy. I wish I'd been looking earlier.

Anyway, I got back to Lisa's place with frozen pizza and realized that I'd locked myself out of the apartment. I called her and drove out to pick her up from halfway along her train ride home since I was stuck outside anyway. By the time we got back, and I got food and finalized my schedule for today, it was 12:30. The conference starts earlier tomorrow, but I ought to be more caught up on sleep for it regardless.

And the papers I saw presented today were really good! There's a lot of stuff I'm going to follow up on and read once I have a little time. I saw Shannon Lee Dawdy present, and she was awesome, as I expected after reading her Clockpunk Anthropology piece. The last panel I sat through was on a theme of absence as a presence in urban space, and I really liked those. Several presenters were from CUNY, which is a program I've been planning to investigate as a potential grad school already.
