Did I write about taking a spill on my bike last week due to ice? I was fine, but I bent the tab that the rear derailleur hangs off of. On most frames, there's a separate, replaceable 'hanger', but my frame is old and/or low-end enough that it's integral to the frame. The guy at the bike shop bent it back without too much trouble though, and all seemed well. Today was the first day I tried to ride it since and I found that the derailleur won't access the top three gears. This bike is so frustrating sometimes! I'm trying really hard to save on gas and car maintenance, but sometimes it just doesn't feel worth it.

This led me to look at plans online for building a bike repair stand. The best idea I found? Two ropes with hooks to hold the frame up off the ground. That would be really easy to set up in the basement with all the exposed beams, and much cheaper than buying or building a stand. So I guess I'll get some rope and try adjusting the derailleur. I may not get to it until after finals though. I'll be annoyed at having to drive all the time, but I've got too much to do.

My first class today is just filling out a study sheet for the final. I can do that on my own, so I ducked out. I'm going to put together a list of what I need to do this week and this weekend to be ready for finals next week. The end is coming fast!
