When I took Piper outside this morning, there were three official vehicles in the building's driveway and street. An ambulance, a police car, and a vehicle labeled forensics. As we walked, I saw two more police cars in the alley behind the building. Going back inside, the previously empty foyer had a handful of uniformed people, one with blue gloves, and possibly a couple of residents. No one had any sense of urgency though. I wonder whether someone died in the building.

Due to people's scheduling issues at work, I'm going to be there from 2 until about 8:30 today, then it's back to the regular opening shift tomorrow.

Miriam and I were social last night! A friend of hers from school came over and we played Mansions of Madness. We defeated the Dunwich Horror and saved the town! We almost failed because there was a puzzle we were supposed to have three items to solve, and we thought we only had two and that an NPC had stolen one. It turned out that one of us had the third item and hadn't realized it. Oops!

It was so good to have someone over for board games. I'm going to gently try to make it into a recurring thing.

Library Snobbery

Library snobbery?

An article I was reading contained a quote from someone saying that "This collection challenges our notion of what an archive is because it was never intended to be one."

I gave this comment a skeptical eyebrow raise and looked to see what this person's background was. I was not at all surprised to find that he is a professor of music and not even a librarian, let alone an archivist.

Not only am I at work until 9PM when I usually leave at 3, but we are in the immediate aftermath of the DST changeover. It's 7:30, but it feels like midnight.

Facebook Sillyness

I may have gotten the first comment on a NASA post by fortuitous timing of refreshes. They posted about needing a name for a small spheroid they're planning to visit. I wrote that Asteroid McAsteroidface seems like the obvious choice. And it's picking up likes!

One person pointed out that it was in the wrong belt; it's in the Kuiper Belt, not the asteroid belt. That's fair. Another person responded with "Kuipery McKuiperface?"

And one person says it should be named after his gamer tag and proceeds to embarass himself by trying to flaunt his gamer-dick in public. "Named after my gamer tag and other usernames for years.

I was a top 30 no scoper in halo 4 and was dubbed #1 in the world after competing against ImAProSniper1 and won a standoff."

Uhhh, sure, guy. Sure. ('Cause you know it's a guy.)
