Buying a Condo, Maybe

After a lot of angsting today, we've asked our realtor to make an offer on a place.

It's a condo *way* up in the northwest part of the city. We really would have preferred a different location, denser development or a space with a yard for Covid-safe socializing, and a more queer-friendly neighborhood.

There was a house we looked at today that, If we were going to be here long term, I would 100% want to place an offer on instead. But we're probably only here for two years, and for lots of unfortunate reasons, the condo is just more sensible, and less risky. Honestly, I resent it a little bit. But in our situation right now, it just makes the most sense.

The one and only plus for the location is that it's a lot closer to the dog park I take Ella too. And beyond that, Regina isn't that big a city. It's only a 13 minute drive to the center of town, and 20 minutes to the far southeast end of Regina using the faster roads around the perimeter of town. This isn't Chicago where you can drive an hour and a half south from Roger's Park and still be in Chicago. Even if Miriam starts commuting to the university at some point, it's not going to be too bad a drive.

We spent a long time looking at two last places in depth, trying to justify a house on Princess Street we went out to see today. (How great would that have been? I wanted to be there just for the name! Our wi-fi network would have to be called "two princesses" or something...) It was really good in lots of ways, but it just didn't seem like the best choice. I wish it could have been different.

(Edited to add: Ok, I just checked on Google. I *thought* it was a lot closer to the dog park, but supposedly it's one minute further away at 11 minutes vs. 10 from home. Psychogeography is weird. And now I'm even more disappointed.

I don't care if this neighborhood is full of old retired [and thus more likely conservative] people as our realtor suggested: I wanna put a trans flag in our window.)
