Yesteday Evening, Colecovision
I was feeling a bit down yesterday evening, so I thought I'd take a walk. Instead of the usual improvement of mood from being outside for a little while, my head filled up with all sorts of what-if thoughts about the fire and alternate versions of my life. I came back feeling icky, and then just about everything made it worse.
I recognize at this point that this means there is a bad mix of chemicals in my brain, and often I need to lie down and nap to flush them out. But I was doing my best to stay up and help Miriam with some of her work.
So I did that, then took the quiz she'd made for her class as a test subject. Then, since I was feeling a little bit better and wanted to stay next to her on the couch in front of the TV, I decided to play some old games. I loaded up a Colecovision emulator and messed around with the games I played as a little kid. Pepper II and Popeye still hold up decently, I think. Looping is still pretty hard. Mr. Do! was one of my favorite games and is still kind of fun. All the music from these titles is permanently burned into my long-term memory. Some are even the weird little tunes that occasionally come randomly to mind when I'm just going about my business. But because sitting next to Miriam and doing comfort stuff was good, I overdid it with my left wrist and ended up being in pain the rest of the evening.
Anyway, today is a new day.
