I'm a bit sad that I'm not at Windycon this weekend. I really miss parties and being social. (What happened to me? *laughs* I used to be terrified of them!)
But I set a goal for myself of finishing a draft of my anthro paper today, and I did it! The paper's not due 'till next Friday, but I need to make sure I have time for other things too. This paper is on the most difficult, I think, of the three ethnographies I'm reading for this class, but perhaps it's the most rewarding as well. At first I really wasn't sure if I'd be able to figure out this confusion in the book, but now I feel like I at least have a rudimentary understanding of some of the structures and conflicts that make up Tamil kinship. It's really, really different from kinship here.
Tonight, I'm going to take a break, maybe finally do some more Rosetta Stone Spanish and play a little Diablo. Tomorrow, I'm going to start working on an outline for my history paper and comb the reference lists in the books I already have for more sources. I need to make sure I have time for things to get here via interlibrary loan. You know, when looking through a book and finding some citations from a scholar whose work sounds *really* interesting, I take it as a really good sign when I look for him in the bibliography and find checkmarks penciled in next to everything he wrote!
