(no subject)
This has been a pretty good run of days since the official end of my class-related responsibilities.
On my day of introversion, I went through a bunch of stuff I've had sitting on shelves in my room since moving in, and on shelves in the computer room for years before that when I was in the house I was renting with my ex. I got rid of a dozen or two notebooks as well as some old IT course material from New Horizons in Michigan and from the Cisco CCNA certification that I did. I found enough notebooks to not need to buy any for next semester. I also boxed up several paper boxes worth of tabletop gaming materials (I used boxes I've been taking home from me from work at the school help desk!) and put them with my boxes full of books. Someday I'll get to sort through all of that stuff. But for now, it's out of the way.
I got to spend some time with my brother,
akreaveter on Friday morning. It sounds a bit odd, given that I live in the same house as he and my parents, but I feel like I haven't seen a great deal of them for the past month or so. Most of my time spent awake during the week was spent closed up in my room working on school stuff. On Friday, I got up early and Akreaveter was up too and I helped him get the couch that was in his room downstairs and outside for the trash. I get excited about cleaning and organizing in the house, and it was nice seeing him doing a lot of clean up in his own space. We talked about finding a decent door to replace the cheap and damaged one he's got now, as well as a new light fixture to replace the one there that's got issues. Maybe a trip to the Re:store will be in our future. Anyway, it was nice having some relaxed hangout time with him. In fact, now that I'm down in Evanston, I'm kind of missing he and my parents.
I also have plans to clean off an old microwave cart that's upstairs and put a George Foreman grill, a crock pot, and possibly a bread machine on it. It would be nice to be able to do some cooking upstairs and not worry about gluten contamination for my dad or whether I can find what I need in the kitchen. Danae is also going to give me a microwave for up there, so we'll almost have a little kitchenette up there! Maybe I can find a hotplate too. Tim's going to take the dresser I used to use and put it in his room, clearing up further space that can go to making a sort of galley space like that.
Friday afternoon, I drove down to visit
danaeris at her condo in Evanston. She's pretty busy with some final school work, but we've been able to find time for some Indian dinner at Mt. Everest, and a quick game of Dominion. Then, while she worked, I got my field notes typed up from the farmer's market. But most of my time was spent in a veritable orgy of furniture assembly. Not actually by her request or expectation; I just get started on things like that and I find them really enjoyable and satisfying and I keep going 'till they're done. I feel accomplished, and like I did something helpful and of value.
And now, I think I'm going to start editing more photos from my Illinois trip. I'm not sure what's happening next week. I'm giving my dad a ride to the doctor on Monday, and then I'm going back to Evanston where I get to spend an evening with my kitty without a deadline over her head. On Tuesday, I'll give her a ride to the airport. From there, who knows? Always in motion is the future.

I should also note that three out of my five final grades have been posted. They are As. This makes me pretty happy.
