The Launching Pad restaurant in Wilmington Illinois is most famous for the Gemini Giant, a huge be-space-suited statue that stands outside. It's on old Route 66 and is a wonderful kitschy tourist attraction.

The theme is carried on into the interior, with large pieces of art on the wall that include classic automobiles, a Burma-Shave sign, and of course, the Gemini Giant holding a tasty burger along with his rocketship.

I had a burger and a truly memorable milkshake here, but then it was time to be off to the next stage of my adventure. I took a photo of my own personal 'rocketship', Percy the Swift, who carried me faithfully through my four day mission in the cosmos of downstate Illinois.
