Today when leaving the archives, I decided to follow my coworker out into the tunnels instead of leaving my usual way. I wandered through cool, slightly twisty tunnels that even seemed to have a metal-grade bridge over flowing water at one point. I stopped at doors into the the student center that had a sign warning of an alarm and turned around to look for another way out. But just then, another student worker (I think) came by and told me that I could go ahead and go through them anyway. I did, found my way to the restroom, and was told by another employee in there that the building was closed and I wasn't supposed to be there. Oops!
It all makes me realize that I really miss wandering around places where I'm not supposed to be.
I think I have my independent study with one of my professors worked out. Hopefuly I can get enrolled officially soon to avoid any confusion with credits and financial aid. As I began my research today, I looked at documentation from the General Land Office for the first time. I found a land patent that looks like it has an actual signature from Martin Van Buren and was tickled! I wonder the Prez signed all the land patents back then. (This was 1840)
Time for dinner and more report writing now.
