Piercing Problem

Advice from people who know about piercings please?

I got my second set of lobe piercings in February and they are still not fully healed. They're not infected. They just are painful and irritated regularly. Honestly, I didn't take very good care of them at first because of mental health issues, but I've been soaking them in saline once a day for ten minutes for over a week now and I'm not sure if it's helping.

If they weren't a birthday present from my parents, I really think I'd have just taken them out, but because of that they're important to me.

Any advice?

ETA: Based on Facebook conversations, I have ordered a set of internally threaded, implant-grade titanium barbells to try swapping what's in there with. They should be here in 3-9 days and I'll try those out.

I was going to ask what metal you had in them as I know that can be an issue.

The ones I have in those holes now are the ones that I got with my first piercings. My ears healed fine around those, but maybe titanium will make it easier. Or maybe I've developed an allergy since then, or my body just doesn't heal as well.
