A few days ago, Facebook showed me a memory from 1 year ago: a picture of me just before going to my first laser appointment. Here's that picture, followed by a picture of me from last week. Having bangs makes a huge difference and I love my hair so much now! But I think, even beyond that, I see some progress toward a place I want to be. My magical girl transformation continues!

Details about the animal parade JSK:

This is a dress from Fluffy Tori that Miriam and I backed on Kickstarter for me to possibly wear to pride this past June. It wasn't here in time (which was not unexpected), and I wasn't at pride anyway due to complicated reasons. But I'm looking forward to marching with it next year!

The animals in the parade represent various identities, body types, disabilities, and orientations. That's Audrey the transgender lioness in the front middle.

Technically, it's a JSK, or jumper-skirt, rather than a dress, which is common in EGL (Elegant Gothic Lolita) fashion. It needs a blouse under it, and I hope to have one that goes with it better for the parade. It also needs a poofy petticoat so the parade is floofed out and fully visible!

Miriam is helping me so much with figuring these things out!

You look absolutely squee-adorable in that dress! The blouse has to have more lace than that on it somewhere, and you need pink pantyhose (the color of the bodice).

An all-over lace blouse, or an eyelet material, would look really cute with that pinafore skirt. And pink pantyhose. With shiny red Mary Jane shoes.

The kick starter actually included some pastel rainbow platform shoes for a higher pledge level! But I don't have those. I think a bright or saturated red might overpower the colors in the JSK. But Mary Janes would be nice. I've been wanting a pair of Mary Janes since well before I transitioned.

THose "creeper" style platform shoes are next to impossible to walk in. OTOH, the elephant with vitiligo made me giggle. (I am constitutionally unable to be kawaii.) I have a pair of Crocs mary janes which I've been wearing during all the rainy days we've had (I don't own rain boots.) But i just looked at the Crocs website and they don't have this style any more. Try Hot Topic. (They have lacy blouses too.) Do you know how to determine what women's shoe size fits you? When I wore size 8 women's shoes, I tried on size 6 mens shoes that fit me okay. Instead of red, black patent is classic, or pink or even glitter!

You look a lot better with bangs. For the kawaii look try making the hair in front of your ears into ringlets. (Then you'd look like an orthodox Jewish man.)
