I expect Andrea is still sleeping as I write this. I certainly hope so anyway; if not it means her tummy is keeping her up. Though she didn't get much work on new Ebay things done before I got home yesterday (she met her mother for breakfast and took two trips to the post office getting things that have already sold mailed out), she made up for it by staying up long into the night working on more product. I woke up when she came in to bed and snuggled against her and she warned me that I only had fifteen minutes left to sleep. She was up until four-thirty in the morning!
Monday evening was wonderful. Soon after I got home the two of us went out for a walk (I'm hoping we can start doing that consistently this time; I need to be more active) at Macomb Mall, preceded by some food. We were going to the Coney, but shortly fled the cloud of cigarette smoke for the cleaner air of Olga's Kitchen. Mmm, good stuff! Their spicy little pita triangles are excellent, as was the white bean chili! The actual wrap I had was mediocre in comparison though.
After that, we circled the mall a few times, stopping at the pet store to stare at the puppies. They have a St. Bernard and a German Shepherd Dog that were cute beyond words. We decide that on one of our walks we'll have to stop and play with one or two. We can't have a dog where we live so will take our canine contact where we may.
We scurried home in time for Antiques Roadshow. Andrea learned something useful about jewelery to look for (Miriam somebody-or-other) that may very plausibly be found in thrift stores. I just enjoyed watching the show. There's such fascinating stuff on there! Someone had a collection of correspondence and original drawings between an ancestor and Frank Lloyd Wright (wherein said ancestor criticized Wright for 'just not getting it'). When she was told the value of her collection, she actually ran over to the other side of the display; they had to ask her to move back. "I'm just so excited!" she gushed. With a big smile, the appraiser said "But the camera guys need you to be excited over there." All the boring appraisals for collectors who already know what they have are made up for by moments like that.
At the end of the evening, as I finished my writing and stood to make my way to bed for the night, I asked Andrea for just a minute or two of her attention; for a hug and a kiss and and 'I love you' before we parted ways for the night. Instead, she followed me into the bedroom and laid herself down across from me on the bed. She nestled against me, her warm soft form pressed up against my side. We talked for a while; about our walk, about Ebay, about Andrea's visit with her mother. As she got up to go back to work she brushed my tummy with her paws and I told her how comforting that was. She got up, turned the lights off, and again came back to me where I lay on the bed. She brushed her paws gently over my body, over my stomache, my chest, closing my eyes gently with her fingertips as she caressed my face, all the while whispering 'relax, relax, relax...' I felt more comforted and content than I have words for. I felt very safe and secure. For a few minutes I was hers; possessed. I was my owner's puppy and I was completely fulfilled...
