More Medical Information

I had an appointment with the urologist today.
Medical details involving male anatomy behind
He did a cystoscopy on me; inserting a camera and catheter combination through my urethra and sending it up to my bladder. His assistant applied lidocaine jelly in and around my urethra first, which hurt and burned with a sensation similar to the intermittent pain that led to the visit. The catheter process, though, hurt tremendously. I shouted in pain several times through the minute or so long procedure.
I didn't get to talk to him in detail about it; he was kind of rushed and they'd fit me into a late appointment because they knew I was leaving town. The doctor found no structural problems, but thinks that I have pelvic floor dysfunction; that the muscles responsible for parts of urination and ejaculation are not relaxing properly. I think he made that conclusion at least partly because I had significantly more pain than normal through the process, though I'm not quite sure. He suggested physical therapy. I'd love to do that, if I was going to have insurance and medical care back in the Midwest. I've been dealing with this for a couple of years now at least and it's really frustrating. But I'll be losing my insurance coverage very soon now. I'm hoping it's another thing that a family friend who's a knowledgeable athletic and chronic injury massage specialist might be able to give me information about. I have found a few discussions on the internet about this. They were things I hadn't found in the past because I didn't know what to look for, but now that I have the key phrase, I've found several descriptions that sound very much like what I'm experiencing; I'm reassured by that.
But for now, I'm trying to hold still enough not to cause more recurrences of the intensely sharp and burning pain that's intermittently recurring since the catheter came out. And I'm freezing because I don't want to put pants on because the fabric rubbing hurts. Ow, ow, ow.
---
Ok, so I've put my pajama pants on and only pulled them up to my thighs. Which looks ridiculous, but I'm not shivering any more.
