stormdogI can't even see the Sears Tower this morning through the fog; so pretty!
It was a long ride back home yesterday afternoon and I was pretty soaked again. With more rain today, I left my bike home and plan to take transit. When I have a bit more money to spare, I'm going to get a really nice bicycle rain cape.
A few blocks from home, I was addressed by a confrontational driver. I rolled up behind someone in a left turn lane, while another car in the straight-through lane was at a sharp angle and nosed slightly into my lane. She rolled her windows down and said, more or less, 'Please don't cut in front of me; you're going to get yourself killed! You should be on the sidewalk!'
"Biking on the sidewalk is illegal in Evanston," I responded, "and if you're going to use the turn lane you should start at the beginning."
She tried to nose further in and I got closer up to the car ahead of me. When the light changed, I swiftly followed it across the intersection and ignored the driver who'd complained.
That evening, I started feeling like a bad person for having responded the way I did. I had a strong sense of having done something wrong and a lot of anxiety accompanying that feeling. Then I realized I'd been distracted at work and hadn't taken my afternoon medication.Yup; still need it.

I started making notes of train arrival and departure times on my commute today. There's ostensibly a schedule, but it matches reality varyingly well on different days. I'm going to put them in a spreadsheet and figure out a reasonable safe time to arrive at the Davis station and, less importantly, just how much time I have for transferring between lines.
