Another way to kill bedbugs (and many other insect pests indoors) is with liquid nitrogen. Most bugs can't survive freezing temperatures for very long. (A long time ago, when I moved from NYC to a suburb in February, I just left the U-Haul truck parked in the driveway overnight for two nights, to kill off any cockroaches that might have hitched a ride. It worked.) As I understand it, they simply spray liquid nitrogen into all the places that bugs might be lurking. After they freeze to death, the liquid evaporates into non-toxic nitrogen gas, which just dissipates into the air. If I had a bedbug problem, I'd want to hire an exterminator who used that method, even though I believe it's a bit more expensive.
