stormdogOh; now that I've showered, but before I sign off for the night, here's another snippet from the now-soggy doggy that I should record, if just for the humor value.
As I think I indicated in this space earlier, my company has agreed to buy a nice ergonomic keyboard for me to help with my wrist problems. Having created and sent my PO in last week, I today emailed our purchaser, who is in another office, and asked if he'd be willing to bump my request up a little bit. "I know how busy you are and I try not to ask for extra speed unless it's really warrented," I wrote, "but I'm really looking forward to seeing if this keyboard will make my wrists feel better. Plus, I'm really excited about getting a new geek-toy! Is there a change you could bump this one up?"
He's a great guy; he responded that he'd be happy to help me out and would order it that day. Then, I got an email a while later saying that, though he'd ordered the keyboard, they were out of the part number I requested, KB500USB-BLK, but he had found a wonderful alternate: KB500USB-PNK. This, rather than the black keyboard I requested, was "a soothing pink color for your co-workers to laugh at", and asked if the substitution was ok.
I responded and thanked him greatly for going the extra mile to find a replacement color that I would really like and said that I'd make sure to put him in line for something really special next time his turn for an upgrade system came around.
And I attached this picture to the email.
He responded, "That's AWESOME! I can't wait to get it. Please make sure that my laptop has the fur on it!!"
*giggles* There's a lot about my job that stresses me, but there are a lot worse places to work.
