stormdogSo we've received the demo unit for our new laptop standard: the HP NC6400. I've heard it's a wide-screen unit. Well, yes, it is. How did they make it a widescreen? By taking about half an inch off the top of the screen. Essentially, it looks just like our previous standard, the NC6220 with a screen that's about a half inch smaller in the vertical dimension. I'm not impressed. It does have some fun stuff like a built in thumbprint and smart card reader, not to mention a dual-core Pentium M 2Ghz, but still; not impressed.
On the plus side, I'm bringing home a little server today. It's a Proliant ML570. This is a quad-PIII Xeon server in a wheeled tower case. It's coming with a couple hundred gig of hard drive capacity and at least 512MB of RAM, possibly more if it's been upgraded. I haven't had much time to look it over, but I'm stupidly excited about it. I'm also bringing home a similarly sized Dell Poweredge that I know even less about. Last week was a long, long week. I'm glad it's over now.
