I'm back! Heh, I spent Sunday and Monday nights in Chicago with Syn. Friends make me happy. I was feeling a little tired and down on Sunday night and was telling my brother that what I really need to do is go see my friends again, and within minutes I was told that there was a phone message for me. *g* Sometimes the universe just clicks together, and it's a wonderful thing. Got to see Lander and Benjie too. Then on Tuesday I got to see Daveqat. Does life get much better than that? I'll be working long hours the rest of this week, but I'm ok with that now.

Syn took me to a very cool restauraunt called Dave and Buster's. It is, as he described it, a 'Chuck E. Cheese for grown-ups'. I'd never been anywhere quite like it. 'Course, I don't get out much. They had an extensive arcade game collection (though no pinball; I guess pinball is out of vogue these days...) including six or eight battlemech sims. I've only played in one of those once, at GenCon. I'll have to go back sometime. What I found most striking though was their ceiling fans. They had a large arrangement of fans that were all run in series on a huge belt drive system. The belts wrapped around gorgeous brass flywheels with curved spokes, set in faux-wrought iron support members. Oh, it was cool! Very Jules Verne. I want some. Of course the best part of the trip was getting to cuddle people. Curling up with a friend and going to sleep is probably the nicest thing in my experience. I don't know how I got by for 23 years without people to cuddle. I don't think I could do it again...

Came back on Tuesday night after work and went out for food with Dave. It's been far too long since I've seen him, and getting a chance to again made me happy. He missed the whole time I had my goatee shaved. He thinks I look better with it, and I'm inclined to agree. I told him about my friend Mike out in Oregon *waves to Mike* and he doesn't think I'm crazy to go and meet him. That made me feel a little better. If I'm insane, at least I'm not the only one! to all my friends. I love you all!

I was feeling a little down when as Syn talked about he and Dave... I wonder if that makes me selfish. I'm not jealous of other people's relationships, just envious. Oh well. It took 23 years to find friends, and now I even believe I might find somebody to love. I just hope it doesn't take another 23 years... *g*

(no subject)

Saw a guy in Best Buy on Friday with really fantastic hair. Must have been about three feet long, very straight, in a tail. I was so tempted to compliment him on it, but I guess that's probably not a good idea. It's too bad. I would love to recieve such a compliment, but I'm probably not a good litmus test for social norms, now am I?

I'm probably being silly again tonight. I'm worried about whether I'm bugging people if I say hi when I log on to the IM services. Is there an etiquette to this? I feel sort of like I'm being a pest if I always say hi just to say hi. I'm still new to this and I guess I worry too much? Worrying is a tough habit to break though. Maybe I'll ask Dave , Syn, and Street when I see them this Saturday. We're going to see Margaret Cho at the Chicago theatre. Oughtta be lots of fun. Last time I was in that building, I decided just seeing such a gorgeous theatre was worth the price of admission. The show was good too. Got to see Michael Moschen there. He is really amazing. I was the only person in the theatre who stood up during the applause and felt rather singled out, but I'd do it again. ^_^

Hehe, just talked to Syn on AIM. He says I was, indeed, just being silly. *grin* That's me. But I feel better now.
