This is shaping into an interesting weekend. tomorrow today I am going out to see Lander after I wake up and get food in me. That'll be a two hour drive to Crown Point. The old car is getting a lot of miles on it theses days. It's up over 260k now. But I digress. Sunday I'm spending time with Shawn, who could use some company. He's not the only one. *sigh* I miss my dear Raccoon so much...

It's an unnerving portent, seeing other long-distance relationships and the troubles they incur. I think this one can work. I really do. It's not that far. In 20 days I can once more lay eyes upon the most wonderful person in my life. 20 days have never stretched out so far ahead...

Monday, I get to see Synicism again. That will be nice too. Blah, I've run out of words. It's too early in the morning. I'm getting by. I'm getting by...

Well, off to visit Lander in Crown Point in half an hour or so. There was a bit of confusion as to what shirt I was going to wear. Seems his parents a little wonky about furries, and all my shirts are of three categories. Gaming con shirts, animal/furry con shirts, and nice button down shirts. So I thought about it and decided on a nice grey button down shirt with a collar and stuff. Less formal than the black one I think, and I guess looking mostly respectable on occasion isn't too bad. Usually I save those for working at the theatre. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror sitting here and I must say, I'm looking pretty good today! Except for my pants. I bought new ones 'cause my old ones were beginning to hang tent-like on me. Now the new ones are heading in that direction too. But they're not too bad yet. Just big enough to need a belt to avoid falling down. And I'm starting to thnk I'd prefer a different shape for my glasses, even smaller than this pair probably. But that's an issue for another time.

Well, drove to Crown Point and back today to see Lander. We had a nice few hours checking out the mall nearby and getting some surprisingly good fast food japanese stuff. At least, the shop claimed to be Japanese. In any case...

Actually had fun meeting his parents. It seems they read a lot of sci-fi/fantasy and have also played many of the wonderful old Infocom text-adventure games. Cool! We had some stuff to talk about. Old games, old computers. If I lived close enough to go see him there more often we'd probably get along well. Except for the whole furry thing. *grin* It was very nice to see Lander again. After getting back from the mall the TV was busy so we couldn't watch the movie I brought. Instead we just sort of sat on the couch for a while and just leaned against each other... I don't know how I'd get by without human touch. That was really the best part of the trip for me. That and the greeting and good-bye hugs. *smile*

Passed signs pointing at Detroit during the trip and it occured to me frequently that I was basically halfway there. There were a few times when thoughts of leaving Lander's and then just heading eastward crossed my mind...
