Mar. 24th, 2003 02:52 pmIt's been a good weekend.
Met up with several people for lunch down in Chicago. Got to see Jim, Dave, Benjie, Ian, John, and Shawn. I can't remember where we ate to tell the truth, but it was good. So after looking at Beast Buy and Target for an air cleaner we all met up again at John and Shawn's to sit around doing nothing special. In an amazing example of real life paradox, doing nothing special is, in fact, very special. *grin* I brought Revolutionary Girl Utena to watch. I'll be honest about that one. I't hadn't really sunk in just how much lesbian innuendo is in that animè. Thanks mainly to Jim's frequent sarcastic comments on the show (which were doing a very good job of cracking me up) it became a bit more apparent to me. And this is a children's show in Japan? *shrug* I do recommend it. It's very odd and surreal and I enjoy it.
Later on, Shawn cooked spaghetti and I called my dear raccoon. As usual I was somewhat tongue-tied on the phone. I wish I didn't have this odd phone phobia. Maybe it'll get better with experience. *sigh* I always feel so awkward on the phone. It was a joy as alwyas to hear her voice, but I didn't even tell her how much I was missing her.... 18 days and counting... Afterward, I guess it became fairly apparent to all gathered how smitten I am as I just lay quietly on the couch for a while listening to everyone else talk... Shawn sat next to me and petted my head, which was honestly rather comforting.
I dedided at some point during the night that, as nice as it would be to spend another lazy evening snuggled with Jim watching a movie, I just had to get home for Monday. I've got a couple things to do around here, plus I felt like having a free day to myself again would be a good thing. Sometimes it's good to have a bunch of mostly unstructured hours in a row to let your brain catch up to your life. Heh.
As the night wore on, most people headed off home. I stayed over for the night and helped John cut up matting to back pictures with for another friend who is having a lot of stuff in an art show. Finishing up with that, Shawn and I snuggled up and went to sleep. I'm so glad I stayed over. I suppose we both needed a shoulder to cry on, and I think it did us both good.
One last note. Despite the fact that I didn't experience it for 23 years, and that it didn't happen this weekend either (not that I was expecting it to...), It just occurred to me this weekend that, well, *blush* I really like sex *giggle* That's all I have to say about that. Now off to clean more. I'm leaving for Oregon next weekend and I have to get stuff done.
