Apr. 21st, 2003 05:54 pmI made phone calls this weekend. Multiple phone calls. To businesses. And the idea didn't phaze me. This was a pleasant surprise. Time was that I couldn't call a business to make general inquiries without stressing out for 10 or 15 minutes about what exactly I was going to say. One more piece of evidence that I am a really different person than I was before this new phase of my life, and a much better one.
Unfortunately, these phone calls resulted in me finding out that Regency Mall was closed (and that they hadn't updated their automated messages since New Year's, but that's another story), so Lander and I couldn't go there to play Dance Dance. Instead, we hung arond Jim's apartment for a while. Then, looking for dinner, we went all the way back north to my house where we had some of the roast and potatoes my parents had made, and played Dance Dance at home. Arcade's closed? That won't stop the real addicts! Heh.
Then, we drove all the way back south to Chicago again. We dropped Lander off and Jim and I didn't get back to his apartment 'till midnight. I keep forgetting the practicalites of making that drive. I make a general practice of trying not to let practicalites get in the way anyway. *grin* But we were quite tired when we got back, so I didn't get my hair brushed. *shrug* Maybe next time. As we left Kenosha, Jim said "Your shoes are on the back of the car." I said "Yeah." Thinking he meant in the back seat. Then he said "No, your shoes are on the back of the car! Look!" I turned around and there they were on the trunk. Oops. It's certainly not the first time I've done something like that. I forgot my backpack with clothes in it too, so Jim kindly lent me a shirt later on. It was an XL and it fit me. *grin* Maybe I should start buying smaller shirts .
I got up and almost decided not to go to work. I don't *technically* have to go in on Mondays, and I was pretty tired. But, as Jim pointed out, I had to get up to move my car anyway (it was in front of a meter) and at that point I realized that I was going to be up for good. I left my options open by not deciding whether I was going to work until I got to the appropriate exit, but finally I decided to go. And I'm glad I did. Yeah, work is boring, but I feel like by going in when I don't absolutely have to I'm taking a little more responsibility, and that's a good thing. Plus, money is always good. I did leave a bit early though. I was falling asleep trying to file those miniatures...
I had the opportunity to work in front of a computer for most of the day. I sat, file and figure in hand, and occasionally glanced at the screen where I had <MUSHINESS>a picture of Andrea and I from when she was here last weekend.</MUSHINESS> Heh. I'm in love.... *whistles a nameless tune*
