(no subject)

I spent last night and this morning down in Chicago with boixboi where we talked about anything and everything for about 3 and a half hours last night, and then played Super Smash Brothers in the morning before I left. It was a really nice time. I brought a couple DVD's to watch, but we were having such a good time just laying on the futon and talking about science, politics, and innumerable other things we never got around to them. *grin* It was so nicely relaxing after moving machinery around for 4 hours. That sucked, but I won't get into that. AT least I'm getting paid for the time.

After I left, I called my parents to find out when they'd be at the family reunion I was going to. I found that I had some time before they planned to arrive, so I stuck my sandals in my backpack and walked around Grant Park for about 45 minutes. I intended to go look at Buckingham fountaink but I didn't quite get there. I did see the Columbus monument thingy and I walked through the underpass to the museum campus where chirping and twittering birds have made scores of nests in the cracks in the ceiling. That was really neat, as was the short walk along the water shore through the marina there. I may have to come back and explore that park on a bike sometime, if I ever get mine working.

The reunion thing was ok. I still arrived about half an hour before my parents and I was a little uncomfortable about being there by myself, expecially not really knowing anyone in my dad's family by sight, but I talked to some people anyway and really didn't have a bad time. My brothers and I all played in the happily non-chlorinated pool once they finally did show up, I juggled for my younger relatives, I played with a couple of very cute dogs, and I ate rather too much. Then we all went home. Guess that about covers it...

I don't have to drive to work tomorrow. Yay for me.
