I rushed out of work today so I could make it to Media Play (an
apparently Michigan native Best But sort of store) in time to buy my
mother's Mother's Day present (It's Final Fantasy XI, and is, of course
rather late. *sigh*). Then it was off to school again. I'm doing
better today, but I was so very tired at school last night.
It was a long, very good, and somewhat sleep deficient weekend. More
on that momentarily. I was talking about last night.

I left school a little bit early. We got to play with the multimeteres
a bit and that was fun, but I felt pretty comfortable already with
everything we were covering and when I heard from my love, who was
feeling kind of down, I began to just wish class was over so I could
get home to her.

Then, during the second, I somehow ended up talking to the woman
sitting next to me in class about my sweetie. I told her about how we
met, about the long distance relationship we had for months, and about
moving out here to be with her. I told her about our plans for being
married at the Silverleaf faire, and about my star's involvement with
the wenches' guild (my classmate had heard of them and, in fact, had
thought about joining at one point...). I told her about how wonderful
my girl is and how happy she makes me. It was the first time I've ever
really talked about her to someone who didn't know either one or the
other of us through the whole experience. It woke some surprisingly
strong emotion in me, trying to encapsulate the magic of my raccoon in
simple words... The woman I was talking to told me how refreshing and
beautiful it is to here someone talk about their boyfriend/girlfriend
like that. That most people always seem to have some complaint or
other about them...

As we talked, I felt more and more that I needed to go home to be with
my sweetie, and toward the end of the break I left for home, picking up
some dinner for her on the way. I'm glad we did. She ate while we sat
on the couch with the TV on for a bit, and then we went to bed where we
talked and snuggled until finally falling into contented slumber...
We were just both so tired out from the weekend. I'd been getting
about 5 hours of sleep a night through the week anyway, and the weekend
wasn't much better. I didn't really get any of the stuff done that I
wanted to either. I still wouldn't trade the good times for anything.

Friday we left right after my dear one got home for K.C.'s apartment
warming party. Through I was a bit overwhelmed by the large number of
people at first, eventually most people wandered off and we were left
with just myself, my sweetie, [livejournal.com profile] crazycatladymel, and K.C. We
spend a slow, lazy evening that progressed into late night just
talking. In fact, there was lots of talking about 'girl
stuff'. It made me feel special to be accepted in that way. *giggle* In a lot of cases, I feel more comfortable haning around with either groups of the opposite gender, or gay men. I just seem to mesh better with them.

Saturday involved a trip down to Indiana for a first year Renaissance
Faire with [livejournal.com profile] imandunewen. My beloved and I were so looking
forward to seeing her! We got together and drove out to the faire
(past the Fun Spot amusement park that my sweetie had heard much of
through her job but never known exactly where it is. It's a nifty
little family run amusement park!).

The faire was small. Very small.
As [livejournal.com profile] wooisme put it, it was very much 'Hey kids, let's put on
a renaissance faire!' time. We saw very few people we knew and the
selection of merchants was pretty limited (though Andrea picked up a
couple books). On the plus side, the two of us (Molly refrained from
such activity) took off our shoes and squished through the mud and over
the straw the whole time at faire. Whee! It was fun showing off the
four toe rings I was wearing even though my feet were, from time to
time, to dirty to be able to see them. Other highlights were the
stream that, after the torrential rains that had been coming down the
whole weekend, was significantly swollen and rushed in beautiful
chaotic swirls and splashes under a couple of pretty bridges. The
three of us stood and watched the water for a time, enjoying the sight
and sound of the turbulent flow. The smell of the water, and of spring
in general, made for a wonderful experience there too. It was a very
relaxing couple of meandering hours.

After quitting the faire, we attended an estate/barn sale that I'd seen
a sign for (and excitedly pointed out on the way there), and
then went to two seperate Goodwill thrift stores, all
in garb. Lots of fun plus one or two confused looks from 'danes. But
that's ok. I think everyone needs a little oddness in their lives now
and then to wake them up from reality. "A little nonsense now and then
is relished by the wisest men."

Afterward, we went back to [livejournal.com profile] imandunewen's place to get into
civvies and then back out for Chinese buffet. Puppies like Chinese
buffet! Puppies (nor raccoons or wenches for that matter) do
not like cemetaries like the one we passed on the way that
have been completely encircled by roads and developments. It
obviously used to be a small and tranquil plot of graves. It's now
stuck between a busy road and a super-store parking lot. Very
unsettling and more than a little sad.

From there, it was back once again to Molly's dwelling, where we, after
intending to sit and talk for just an hour or two, finally left not too
much before midnight. I think it took us at least an hour after
getting up to leave to actually be on the road. Honestly, I don't mind
that one bit. I love sitting and talking with friends. It's
something that's been so very rare through most of my life. In
retrospect though, we really shouldn't have stayed so late in light of
the long drive home. The return trip was, to put it simply, rather
unpleasant and we really should have stayed the night rather than trying to make it home with two dead-tired drivers. We were lucky enough that no serious problems occurred and we made it home safely. I would not chance it again in the same situation.

Sunday was spent at my sweetie's friend Monet(sp?)'s house with a collection of ren faire folk. We watched the new version of The Lion In Winter on cable over there. It was a good movie that tought me some history (not a lot, but some) and I only had to ask [livejournal.com profile] wooisme who someone was twice. Heh. We had really good homemade spaghetti and some great cake and ice cream and had a fun time lazing about the very pretty apartment. It was a very cluttered and full space, yet it was also just wonderfully alive and welcoming and busy and beautiful. It gave me some inspiration for decorating my own dwelling.

Incidentally, the scene implying that Richard (the elder son of King Henry and Elinore of Acquitane) and Phillip (king of France) had briefly been lovers was pretty hot. *blush* It was kind of strange hearing the 'eww' or two from other members of our gathering during that revelation. I really tend to forget that there are people out there who are fen or ren faire folk or, really, anybody I tend to deal with a lot, who aren't completely accepting of homosexuality. *shrug* I just never had anyone close to me growing up who was really hostile toward it so most times the idea just doesn't occurr to me.

I actually wrote 90% of this yesterday during my breaks at school. As I finish this off, I once again have to leave for that respected edifice of learning, the Troy brance of New Horizons. Time is still something I have very little of. That's why I haven't been able to update in days. This weekend though, having an extra day to ourselves as we do, Andrea and I are going to get all caught up on everything that's been backing up, and then we're going to take a ride up to somewhere in northern Michigan, spend a long leisurely time looking at many of the beautiful places from her childhood that my love has told me about, and probably staying at a motel or a bed and breakfast for a night, then driving home. That's going to be so incredibly nice...
