(no subject)
Jan. 28th, 2006 12:49 pmSince Andrea and I will be out of the house this afternoon and evening during our outing to
anarchist_nomad's house for his regular bi-monthly gaming party, I called my parents to ask if someone could possibly drop by to let Kuma out of his crate for a walk and some food around five or six o' clock. I told him that the friend who's place we're going is leaving the country to accept a teaching position at Oxford. So what did my dad say? He pointed out that we now have an inside track on upcoming Doctor Who information. Yes, it's true; there is a geek gene. It's hard to say whether it's a sex-linked gene or not; I'm inheriting it from both sides of my family.
In other news, come what may, I'm going to take Moira down to Florida to watch the shuttle launch that's tentatively planned for this coming May. With the way things are going here in the states, I honestly can't be certain that there will be a great many more shuttle launches, and I'll be damned if I go through my life always wishing I'd been able to see one but knowing that I missed my chance. Once again, if you're interested in coming along, please let me know. I'm thinking specifically of you,
posicat. Next time we talk, we'll discuss it.
Andrea is kicking all kinds of Ebay tail and we've finally got a working debit card for her, so we're depositing all the Paypal money into what is, as of a week or so ago, a joint account. I'm going to figure out how we stand on finances and, if we're doing as well as I think we are, finally get my truck in for service. I want to not only get the locked back wheel fixed, but I want to get a check-up and tune-up too. I need to keep this truck going as long as I can. I think if I take good enough care of her, she'll make it to more miles than the Olds did. The Olds got to a respectable 370,000 miles before her time came, but my truck is ten years newer and already has 320,000, so I think there's a good chance to get to the 400,000 mark that I always hoped the Olds would make it to.
And now it's time to pack up and go; I'll see you all later!
