Becaused we have an employee leaving the company and continuing to work as a contractor, I have to go through a half-hour process of creating tracking tickets (one for documenting access for his company that he just started, one for documenting his personal access to the network, and one for documenting his termination) and scanning in access forms to document his new role and status, the end result of which will be absolutely no change to his effective access rights or accounts.

Beauracracy. Can't live with it, can't bash yourself in the head with a rusty stapler (they ask too many questions).

In the meantime, though this is probably old news to at least a few of you, this is highly amusing.

More substantive update coming soon about the many other ways today has managed to suck.

This is a rare bit of venting. Hope you'll pardon me the occasional bit of indulgence.

I believe I stated that I was going to enumerate the multiple ways that today sucked. Let's begin.

1) Didn't get up 'till half past six. Andrea said that we had both apparently slept through the alarm for about an hour.

2) Somewhere between Andrea letting the dog out of his cage and her letting him outside, he pooped on the floor of the dining room. Again.

3) Had to wear my work boots to work today, having forgotten for the third time to take them out of the truck.

4) Found, upon getting to Evil Bob's house to get together to car pool, that he had left me a message indicating that we'd need to get ourselves a ride today. Serin and I had to drive ourselves in the Escort.

5) Speaking of the Escort, whatever is wrong with the wheels, brakes, and/or bearings has gotten to the point where there's a noticable wobble back and forth.

6) On the way to work, I noticed another odd noise coming from the engine. I don't know quite how to describe it apart from not good.

7) Stupid people at work. No more need be said.

8) Car battery was dead at the end of the day. Managed to get a jump from Evil Bob.

9) We'll be driving ourselves down to work again tomorrow. Evil Bob is going to be stuck at work, possibly 'till ten o' clock or so. (Note to self: his job may not be so cool as I thought.)

Woof.

But there were good things today too. Well, one. Andrea has a job! Yes, I know: she had a job already. Well, she has another one. I'll let her tell you about it. But it's good. It's very good.

*yawwwwnns*

The only other thing to note right now is that, at Serin's suggestion, I took some time at work to burn a music CD to listen to on the way home yesterday since she was driving she and Todd's car that day. I had a really fun time driving, listening to Neil Young, Moby, Pink Floyd, George Harrison, and even a track by Nirvana, and talking about how I'd found it all and what it meant to me. That has definitely been one of the highlights of the week so far.

Gah. My brain is tired. Will write more later about stuff. For now, sitting at Todd and Serin's place watching Star Trek, to be followed up by some console gaming to really veg out, is about all I care to stick in my brain. And that's ok.

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] todd_riverden and [livejournal.com profile] serinthia! You two really cheered me up tonight. I think we definitely need to get together some weekend night as the weather starts to get chilly and fally is in the air and do an all-night console gaming session. I had so much fun playing tonight and I've been thinking about all the times I used to stay up all night with my brothers playing Street Fighter or Final Fantasy over the summers. Maybe I'd even bring one of them with if you don't mind. I'll bring my emulation computer and joy pads, or you bring your stuff here, and we'll have a twelve-plus hour current and classic game orgy! Whadday say? Sometime in the next month or two? *bounce*
