Andrea prepared a little lunch kit for me on Wednesday night. There was a can of Italian wedding soup, a tupperware bowl with fresh grated cheese to add the soup to, and my car keys.
I got up on Thursday morning and panicked because, though I found the can of soup, I couldn't find my keys; they weren't in my pants from yesterday! Fortunately,
serinthia was driving her car that day, so I gave up and went with her. That evening, Andrea pointed out that the soup and keys were in the same place.
This morning, I picked up the can of soup and went out the door, then had to go back in to pick up the tupperware. I forgot my keys a second time, but decided not to go back for them because Serin was driving her car again.
When I made lunch today, I took the can with me from where it was sitting next to the bowl, completely forgetting the bowl's purpose, or even presence. I only remembered after having finished drinking the soup from my water cup. The fact that I had a container with me specifically for that purpose never occurred to me.
Then, in an instance of forgetfulness unrelated to food, Serin talked about going out to deposit her paycheck today and I asked if she wanted the truck, expecting of course that the answer would be 'yes'.
"That might be difficult" she responded. Hmm, since my truck is in my driveway thirty miles away, I guess it would be.
The kitchen is so full of stacked up furniture right now that we cannot even get to the microwave or oven, much less open them. I'm thinking I should take a picture for posterity and humour value. We're going to start arranging furniture again tonight. The carpets look
really good! Except for some darkness by the kitchen doorway, everything is pretty much clean and white.
We're going to start having people take their shoes off on the front porch to keep it that way (I hope that doesn't bug anybody), although I'm thinking about putting a rug down in the entrance way that extends to in front of our little backless couch so that people can walk in and take their shoes off there. We shall see.
I was in target before bowling last night to look for a runner to put between the front door and kitchen doorway (I didn't think of the area rug solution until today), but couldn't decide what Andrea would like, so instead I just bought compressed air to clean my electronics, a glass plate to hold the giant mint candle that Andrea bought for me (candles!! *bounce*), and some cat food. Andrea was going to go with me, but in the end decided that she needed to catch up on her sleep.
Since I was about half an hour early getting out of Target, I stopped at Petco and looked at ferrets, bunnies, rats, and birds. There was a medium-sized bird that I interacted with for a few minutes, getting it to bob its head up and down to mimic mine, and conversing with it in random bird noises that seemed to get it very excited. It was much more interesting than the parakeets I used to have, despite that fact that, according to the sign on the crate, it was a variety of parakeet. It was much bigger than mine. And much more expensive.
After killing some time there, it was on to bowling. I threw a strike with my first ball, then proceeded to suck the rest of the night, coming in second in the first game and third in the second. I did have a really good time though and am looking forward to doing it again this weekend, even though my sore fingers and side have made it clear that I'm probably only good for two games until I get back into shape.
I'm so excited about cleaning and organizing today! The hours before five are just dragging on interminably. The fact that I had to sit in the front row at our site for the company-wide meeting today didn't help. An hour of talking about financial results. Whee. I was very, very tempted to drink a bunch of soda to keep me up. But I was a very good doggy and didn't nod off at all. Since I was probably very much in view of the CEO, that's a very good thing.
Mmm, I just ate the cheese that was supposed to go in my soup. Yummy!
I'm off to enter yet another new hire I
just got notice on into the system who, despite our five business day SLA to prepare new hire equipment, is starting on Monday. 'Till later!
