Apr. 19th, 2007 10:02 pmSomeday, I'm going to make good on my threat to get new glasses over the weekend. The pair I have has been glued together at least three times now and has residue all around the top of the left lens. And I don't know what it is, but they seem to get dirty very quickly. I end up cleaning them frequently throughout the day. Maybe whatever anti-stick coating they came with has worn off.
I cleaned out my truck today. Found a laptop and an LED headlamp, along with three lengths of CAT5 cable (one of them a crossover), a full length PCI T1 interface card, piles of socks and clothes, and assorted other cruft. It's amazing what builds up in my truck. Then
wooisme started on her Escort while I held the garbage bag for her. Not done yet, but significant progress was made. When it got dark enough to stop we went back indoors for some video entertainment.
Once again I've been remiss in chronicling the passage of the weekend, and once again I can't quite remember all of what we did. Most of it was spent hanging around with
posicat I think. The three of us drove down to the car lot together on Saturday and bought the Rio which we then drove out again on Monday to obtain it, along with a meal at a lovely Chinese buffet.
We went to the Warsaw Inn where I had my first experience with large amounts of Polish food. It was so good! Five different kinds of pirogies, perfectly textured potato dumplings (I mean, seriously; I'm weird about food texture, and this was spot-on perfect as far as what I do like!), and blintzes. I'd never had a blintz before, and the cream cheese versions were to die for! I so want to go back.
I played City of Villians for the first time along with Posi who was at the house. He and I got in a group that my parents play in along with some of their friends. One of them runs a Teamspeak server, so we plugged into that and went out on a mission or two. I have a cute girl named Mentha Caramelitum on the Triumph server. I'm itching to play more; it was much fun. I really need to get Dragon onto this computer though and take some of the strain off of my hands. Playing City of Villians left me sore! A big contributing factor though is not having my Kinesis at work. I hope they finish fixing it soon; I miss it terribly!
I need to hit up a Big!Lots with Posi this weekend I think and get floor mats for the trucklet. I go barefoot everywhere I can, and of course, I drive barefoot too. But the carpet in the truck is a bit, well, more than a bit, icky after the winter. I cleaned and vacuumed in there, but it just didn't do the trick. There's only so much suction can do. And unlike other cases wherein suction failed, I really don't think that rubbing, tickling, or any other forms of physical contact, are going to help either....
My twenty-one inch monitor that I raved about in the recent past may soon be pushing up the daisies. I spoke too soon when I said that there was nothing wrong with it. The image has started going in and out of focus and, occasionally, vanishing altogether. The application of percussive maintenance helps sporadically, but I think that it will soon be, as
akreaveter might say, permanently inconvenienced.
There are rumors that some twenty-one inch CRTs may be returning to us from the office in Washington state that my company is shutting down this weekend. If so, I'm going to do my best to see that one or two, or three, follow me home. If not, I might just break down and go out to Echelon Computers with Posi and pick one up there. They have them for only seventy-five dollars out there. Not only that, but they have gimundo CRT monitors that go up to thirty five inches! That may be a bit much for my desk, but I'll be happy to drool over them anyway.
Bed time! *woofs* I keep getting up much later than I'd really like to; it doesn't help that I'm staying up 'till eleven o' clock most of the time.
