(no subject)

I may need a new belt soon. Or a new hole in the one I have. I noticed yesterday that I'm using the smallest notch. When I bought it this summer, I think I was using the third one. I suppose if I have to trade in, I'll at least have a nice strop to do fine sharpening on the blades that I don't own.

There was free breakfast today in honor of the holiday. Pancakes, bacon, ham, eggs, and a bagel with cream cheese. It was quite good, particularly th bacon. I don't think I'll be hungry 'till dinner. Which, incidentally, is going to be meat loaf, courtesy of farm_cat.

Speaking of farm_cat, we enjoyed our time spent with the meditation group last night. The website indicated that it ran until eight, but they've changed the format to run 'till eight-thirty, so we left a little bit early so she could run her other errands. We intend to go back next week for the full span though.

The evening is three 25 minute spans of sitting zazen, seperated by five minutes of walking meditation. Including the two of us, there were a total of seven people, so the group was definitely a manageable size for me. The experience was a very calming one. I've read a lot about zen and Buddhist philosopy, and a little bit about meditation, but I've never really done it before. I obviously haven't done it enough to know what I think of it with certainty, but I'm looking forward to going back.

Oh; I almost forget to mention! I am at work today in my satyr horns, my hair down, and the set of pan pipes that wooisme bought me around my neck. *bounce* I've been mistaken for the devil a few times, but I guess I can live with that.

It's so nice to be caught up on bills and have a comfortable amount of money left over. I'm going to spend most of it on debts, but still; it's nice.

I have to send the setup discs for the the laptop that I sold tomorrow. I forgot to stick them in the box. The buyer got the laptop and is happy with it though. I'm glad that's over with. I don't like dealing with Ebay. That said, I'm going to put a few more things up soon. It feels so good to be divesting myself of all this stuff. That's another thing that's creeping into my psyche from reading the Dalai Lama's book. Posessions, especially in excess, are suffering. I have far too many posessions and simplifying my life can only be a good thing.

I also need to catch up on the house. I want more time to learn Japanese, to restring my guitar and try playing left handed, to read, to just have time. I'm getting there.

Speaking of posessions, would anyone like to buy an electric guitar and amp? It's a Fender Stratocaster that I bought brand new about six or seven years ago and barely used. Heck, I think it's even got the swing tags on it. I just never liked the sound of electric. I paid $450 new, and it was the second purchase over $100 that I ever made after I got my first job (the first being my bike). If you're interested, please let me know and make an offer. Otherwise I'll put it up on Craig's List when I get to it.

And, finally, I think that somewhere in this house is probably a pair of my pants that has $200 and a cell phone in it. I hope. I haven't seen either of those items for a couple days now. No, I'm not kidding; I really can't hold on to personal items like cell phones....
