Aug. 26th, 2008 03:45 pmOne of the vendors my department deals with has invited us to an HP presentation, followed by a rooftop viewing of the Cubs game on Tuesday the 2nd, including catered food and stuff. Of course, the first person I thought of was
barton_fender, so I ran the idea of bringing him with me by my manager who said it shouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, he's busy with rehearsal and can't make it. Since that's really the only reason I'd be interested in going myself, I'm going to pass. It would be all sorts of fun to do with my dad, but not so much without him, 'cause I just really am not that excited about competitive sports.
I'm dropping off my car tonight for repair to begin. I was looking at the inside of the hatch and realized that I can see right through where a seam between some plastic and metal parts was pushed inward and apart. It must have been a more significant jolt than I remember; it's funny how really adrenalin-producing things like that slip out of your mind. I really can't remember what it felt like to be hit, though I still feel a hint of it in my neck.
I suppose I ought to take a picture of the car and post it or something. I've been too busy/lazy to get set up on Flickr though. Evil Bob is going to be giving me a ride to work the rest of the week, and I'm figuring on coordinating with Moira to pick me up after work on Friday.
I got my oil changed today, and deposited my checks, including the one from Pleasant Prairie. Apparently I'd paid my fine for the headlight issue when I was brought to the police station, which is why they sent me my money back. Good enough I guess.
It's looking like I may not be able to go camping next month as my schedule is already full. It's weird how that happens. I have to get Moira to help me update my Google Calendar so everything is on there.
Our trip to Kettle Moraine was ok, but it made me a little sad to realize that Kuma is just not up to any kind of long walks, and probably never will be. He's getting old, but he's still my puppy and I love him so much. We don't ask much of him, and he seems to be pretty happy. Moira and I were talking about the possibility of having to move his crate down to the living room if he starts having consistent trouble getting up and down the stairs. If we did that, I think I'd sleep down there on the futon; I don't want to think of him being alone through the night. If he's cooperative, maybe I'd just carry him up and down; he hasn't minded before.
Work is pretty busy this week with
serinthia out, but I've been managing so far. I have a pile of POs and terminations in my queue to get through though. If I have time once I finish this new hire I'm building right now, I'll get to those. In the meantime, back to configuring a laptop...
