I just contacted Shadow's Ridge with a request for a quote on a run of 500 parts, about an inch square, molded in 1/8" thick ABS or polystyrene. Whee!

I have no idea how much it will cost to have the molds made, and it might be prohibitively expensive, but it can't hurt to ask, and I can have fun daydreaming about a huge supply of cross-ties that won't break.

(I did this while I'm supposed to be listening to a meeting on how to use our new call-tracking system...)

Shadow's Ridge wants a drawing or 3D model of the part I want. I wish I still had my CAD program from college. Not that I really managed to learn how to use it well anyway.

I do have a little bit of drafting experience, but it's been a while. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to produce this sort of thing tonight.
