stormdog: (sleep)
A post about my New Year's Eve to come later.

This may be dumb, but does anyone want some Gen Con volunteer shirts? I have about six or seven of them, the earliest dating all the way back to '96. They're XXL size, and, in fact, still fit me now. In high school, I was about the same size I am now (that is, about 6' and 240).

These came from working at the games library with my dad and his group of friends for a bunch of years. I think part of why I don't have a whole lot of interest in going to Gen-Con anymore is that my memories of it are so tied to the old Mecca, and even the convention center it moved to after the Mecca was torn down. It's completely and totally different from what it was for me, not even taking into account that I wouldn't be there with the same group of people.

Not that I'd turn down a free trip or anything. But it'd be weird.

I'm also giving away the shirt from the event at the Rhode Opera House where I set and ran lights for Peter Tork. He was a really nice guy, and having worked with him will most likely be my one and only claim to connection to fame as a theatre tech.

These'll all go to Goodwill, unless someone wants 'em for some strange reason.

I'm cleaning out my dresser tonight. After that, I'll move on to my closet. It's very satisfying to see my clothes nicely organized, and liberating to free myself of things I no longer need. It's making me feel much better after dealing with some money issues and still not being able to find my backpack or camera. Though I've had, in large part, a wonderful weekend, I've been having no small amount of stress thanks to those things.

Do you know what playing Blow the Man Down sounds like on a marimba? Well, I don't know either (in fact, I had to look up a marimba to even know what the heck it was), but I know what it sounds like to play it on a fake marimba via one of the hundred synthesized voices on my keyboard; it's hilarious! I've also found that setting it to pipe organ and playing in the two highest octaves on the keyboard sounds like a calliope; I love those things!
