stormdog: (Geek)
Hey there [livejournal.com profile] alohawolf; I'm interested in selling that black Model M keyboard. I don't need it, don't have a lot of room, and it will do me more good as money for college. Would you like to send me an email or leave a note here and make an offer?

Thanks!

I have my trip on the SS Badger booked. The person who took my reservation said that they can't take people down to see the engines, but I'm still trying. I found a Facebook group for the ship that seems somewhat official and I left a note there. I also found a media contact phone number for the company that I may try calling too.

The ship's website has pictures of the TV lounge and movie lounge in different parts of the boat. I can't imagine spending my time crossing Lake Michigan for the first (possibly only) time in my life watching a screen. Oh well. I plan to spend the whole four hours running around to every part of the ship I can get to and taking pictures.

I should get to Lansing on Saturday evening. On the way there, I'll probably stop and see some things like Robert Wadlow's Shoe or some giant concrete fish heads that are in the area. Wait, this sounds awesome; in Grand Rapids, there's an abstract monument to drinking water fluoridation!

The whole point of trips like this for me is flexible scheduling, so I'm not sure when I'll leave Lansing. Probably Monday or Tuesday. I'll check out other randomness from Roadside America as I go (I'll have to put together a list like I had for New York City) and arrive at [livejournal.com profile] red_ceilidh's place in the evening of whichever day. (Ceilidh, I'll call you or something and let you know!) Then she and I will explore Detroit and environs for a while.

I plan to see the parking garage theatre, Michigan Central Station again, maybe the United Artists Building, and I'm not sure what else. We'll figure it out. I want some Detroit pizza while I'm there for sure. *grins*

I have a performance self-review that I have to fill out tomorrow that's stressing me out. I hate those things passionately, especially when I don't feel I'm really doing all that much special at work. Well, I'll have to figure out what to say there somehow. I have some slight hope I may end up with a raise out of the review. Just as often we haven't gotten one.

I'm going to grab a shower and work on a few more pictures 'till it's time to go meet [livejournal.com profile] moiracoon. Speaking of pictures, here's a shot of a functioning cutaway model of a jet engine at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (an annex of the National Air and Space Museum) in Fairfax, Virginia.
