Mar. 26th, 2011 05:54 pmI can handle kanji that are all straight lines and right angles pretty well. At least, better than the alternative.
Telephone isn't too hard. The kanji are electricity and to talk. Sensible.
電話 :でんわ
But kanji with a bunch of curves and acute angles are hard for me. Like this one, that basically means 'after'.
後 : あと
That's too much like art. And I was never very good at art. Or at least drawing. That's why I'm a photographer, not an artist in a medium that requires actual hand-eye coordination. I guess I just have to keep writing them. And writing them. And writing them.
That said, I feel like I have reached the end of some sort of plateau and am continuing my ascent, as kanji are starting to make more and more sense to me.
じゃ、又。 私は今日本語で勉強をしています。
'De' isn't right in that sentence, is it? I'm not quite sure what's supposed to go there.
Also: Love, love, love my new kanji dictionary. It's awesome. Yeah, I can find all the info in it on the internet, but having it all there in my hand is so much better than digging through multiple websites. Maybe I'm just old-school.
