And this morning, I'm feeling that itch to be out on the road again. Part of my psyche wants to be driving to new places, seeing new things, and eating cold chili out of a can at a rest stop in the middle of endless farmland. I love travelling so much.
But today, I need to bring divorce papers to the court in Racine (Almost to the end of that process!), then work at the help desk at school. Back to more regular life for a while.

All of this paperwork is a strong deterrent from getting married again. Just sayin'. And on top of that, my laser printer is now offsetting pages about an eight of an inch down the sheet of paper, so I can't print on it. I have to wait for pages and pages of old tax returns and financial disclosure forms (in triplicate!) to print on my parents' inkjet.

I was expecting to have this all done and at the courthouse today, but I may have to drop it off tomorrow after my meeting with my advisor for lunch. Tomorrow's the last day I can bring them in.

And I finally decided to contribute $3 toward Barack Obama's campaign. If I can spend $130 on a road trip, I can spend three bucks on politics. Politics is too important to let it be somebody else's problem.

I just saw a comment along the lines of 'All new architecture and buildings are boring. They all look the same.' Now, all of it looking the same is demonstrably false, and I don't agree with boring either. But this was specifically in the context of Kenosha. Kenosha is a small town, sure. But there must be some modern architecture that's at least a little interesting.
Since I'm going to be in town instead of taking my trip up to Duluth/Superior (I'll talk about that later), I'm going to spend a lot of time walking around Kenosha, getting to know the town a little better, and photographing. I want to see downtown and older residential districts, but I want also to see some new stuff. Do any of my readers who know Kenosha have any suggestions, new or old? What are your favorite places in Kenosha?

Well here's a thought. This will be mostly older stuff of course, but I could get out and see Kenosha's complement of NRHP listed properties.

It's taking me, literally, hours with my pictures from the Illinois road trip *just to sort them into individual folders based on content*, let alone deciding which ones I want to spend more time on and do editing. 3700 pictures are a little intimidating.

Some days I think I'd like to start tagging them in something like Lightroom so I can sort them more easily, but I can't even imagine how long it would take to tag them all.

Google and the internet are simply invaluable for pinning down exact locations for some of these shots too. Next time I'm bringing a digital voice recorder so I can easily record notes about where I am.
Tangentially, is it just me, or does the name of this domain seem in poor taste?

I also found a website that seems to be a wannabe yellow pages (And really, how long is that concept going to remain around in these days of digital?) called yellowwiz. Yellow whiz, really? Someone really wasn't thinking there.
