My brother James and my mother and I are all in a acceptably cozy semi-private waiting area in the suite of waiting areas here in the surgery area. Brother Timothy and family friend Mike are out getting breakfast. We'll get updates here over the next 6 to 8 hours as surgery proceeds. danaeris should be joining us later, as well my grandmother and another family friend I think.

In the meantime, I may play mindless games, or Dominion, or take nap 'cause I went to sleep at 1:30 and woke up three hours later. *yawns*

We have news on my dad:

The major portion of the surgery is done! They need to close him up and get everything situated, then take him off the bypass machinery. Everything is going well, and faster than we were led to believe. At the risk of understatement, there was a huge amount of relief here at that news. I'm certainly feeling a lot better. It'll be even better once everything's done and we can see him in recovery.

The surgeon who operated on my dad just came by to let us know that, again, the operation was very successful and he is in recovery. They are concerned about kidney function and more intervention may be needed on that account. But all seems to be pretty well and my mother can go see him in about half an hour.

So I'm going to stop the frequent updates for the moment. Thank you all for following and offering all your support. You have been wonderful family, friends, and people. *big hugs*
