stormdog: (Tawas dog)
At least when I have a brutal headwind against me the whole ride in, it means I'm going to be running 20 miles an hour with it on the way home! Assuming it holds steady....

I bungeed the big box with the boots in it onto my cargo rack and stopped at the post office on the way out to get them in the mail. Who says this isn't practical transportation? Yay!

I've been looking at a bunch of different gloves as I decide what to spend the profits from my boot sales on. I've gone through bunches of forums, stores, reviews, and ads. It didn't help me very much in making a decision. Nothing seemed to really stand out as the cadillac, if you will, of winter bicycling gloves. There were reasonable problems or critiques expressed of all of them.

So I went looking for something else. I found this guy in Minneapolis who makes bike accessories. He makes pogies too. Pogies, if you're not familiar with the term, are things that strap on to your bicycle handlebars, brakes, and shifters. Then you put your hands inside them. You keep manual dexterity, and your hands, in theory stay warm.

I just sent him an email with a few questions, but if these meet my needs, I think I"m going to buy a set. I don't mind spending a chunk of money on something as long as I'm pretty sure that it's high quality, is going to do want I want it to do, and will last. These seem to fit the bill. And I'll be supporting a small, independent maker, which I like.

I'll let you know.
