Dec. 16th, 2013 09:27 pmI had a crazy experience on the way home that I'm not going to write about until tomorrow. In the meantime, have a few pictures of the lovely 1909 Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville, Illinois.
The building was built in 1909 as an opera house and meeting hall for the International Order of Odd Fellows. It is currently in use as a restored motion picture house.
One of my favorite details on this building is the stair-stepped letters on the sides of the marquee. You can see them a little bit in this shot, and I have other shots where the staircase layout is more obvious. It's a neat little detail that is unique to this theatre in my experience so far.
The marquee was a replacement from an art deco remodel in the late '30s.
