May. 21st, 2014 10:04 pmI went to Juan's place to work on my car with his tools, as he so kindly offered. I got the wheel and caliper off one side, then broke the Torx-T60 driver off in the socket trying to remove the caliper bracket from the steering knuckle. The thing just shattered into pieces when I hauled on it with the breaker bar.
So I went to Sears to get another and by the time I was back, it was late enough for Juan to get to bed. New babies require a certain change of schedule. So he suggested I just borrow his car tomorrow and he'd finish the job during the day. I feel bad leaving it to him since I was trying to do it myself to save him the time, but he said it would be fine. I'm very lucky to have him as a friend.
So 'till tomorrow evening, I get to drive a Volkswagen Jetta TDI with a stick shift. Whee! I've really missed changing my own gears.
I'm taking the car to school tomorrow because there is a conference happening there. One of the attendees knows old books pretty well, so the archivist is connecting the two of us so he can look at those Dickens volumes I picked up. Then I have a doctor's appointment in Racine, then I'm visiting Todd and Serinthia, then I'm meeting Juan to trade cars back.
At least *one* of those things is non-mandatory leisure time!
