My friend Wendy Zdrodowski (in the fifth and sixth pictures as well as in the middle in the first, along with her bunny, Winslet), along with a group of other people with the Red Door animal shelter in Chicago, at a protest outside of the downtown Evanston Whole Foods today. They are demonstrating against Whole Foods' recent decision to begin selling rabbit meat.
Red Door, as well as being a dog and cat shelter, takes care of rabbits. They catch and care for the dozens of rabbits that always get dumped on the streets not long after Easter, when their new owners get tired of their furry 'toys'.
My own personal opinion (which I did not share on Facebook out of respect for Wendy's efforts and sensitivity to the issue, as well as Facebook's much higher potential for flame wars), is ambivalent. I see rational arguments on both sides of this issue. I would have gone and photographed a pro-rabbit eating demonstration too; I really like photographing protests and public political actions!

More ( behind the cut. )
Even with some cropping, I can turn these photosets around pretty quickly. I like that.
