New (to me) Lens!
Dec. 21st, 2014 05:57 pmWe just found a manual-focus 135mm f2.8 prime at a thrift store for about $8. The glass is in great condition and the focus has the smooth, sturdy feel that all these old metal-body manual lenses do. It was with a bunch of other camera gear, but it was the only Pentax K-mount. I'm happy to have it for my grandpa's camera, and I'm looking forward to playing with it. It's significantly faster than the zoom lenses that I have in that range.
It was also very good to get out of the house for a while today. I really like Danae's parents, but her dad can be a bit overwhelming after a while. After we picked up her car from the mechanic (All set, and the service was quite reasonably priced!) We drove up to the mountain (the local term for the top of the Niagara Escarpment, which Hamilton straddles). We spent a little while reading plaques in a park overlooking Hamilton and the bay, as well as squeeing over cute dogs being cute. We visited a couple of thrift stores, ate a bunch of samples at a local place that's rather like a World Market but with more grocery stuff, and then headed back home. Her mother is making dinner for us now, 'cause she's sweet like that.
